A Case of the Acute Otitis Media Caused by Intrusion of Ascaris through the Eustachian Tube.


Abstract
This is a case report of the acute otitis media due to intrusion of ascaris through the Eustachian tube.
A 45 years old, male visited with a complaint of left side earache. With the diagnosis of acute otitis media myringotomy was performed and the patient was sent home.
6 hours later the patient visited again with a complaint of more sever otalgia of same ear. Under otoscope found out an ascaris in the left external auditory cannal and pulled out it with ear forceps.
He was treated for 2 weeks with ear drops and antibiotics and cured completely.
According to Literature iafants are more prone to be affected than adults: Otitis of this type can not be differentiated from otitis of ordinary cause. The prognosis of otitis of this type is not so worse than that of ordinary type.
